Why Soy Wax Candles?
What's the difference? Candles in shops; what wax do they use?
These are some of the questions we are asked.
Well, we have tried and tested...
So, let's educate youπ (well, some of you...) on three waxes
(Please note: these are our research and opinions)
Paraffin Wax
Paraffin is the most common wax for candles simply for its price. It is derived from petroleum which is drilled out of the ground from oil rigs and refined. Paraffin candles are generally the cheapest and you can buy it from almost any shops/stores, that sells candles. To be fair, Paraffin wax generates the greatest scent throw from added fragrance oils.
Beeswax
Beeswax is a natural, secreted by bees after they visit flowers. Beeswax burns longer, drips less, and smells of honey naturally. Great for making pillar candles! Beeswax candles are expensive, as it takes about 8 pounds of honey to net 1 pound of beeswax. When it comes to scents though; beeswax doesn't hold fragrance as well as other candle wax, better suited as an unscented candle that allows for the natural oil scent to be released into the air.
Soy wax
Looking for a scented candle? Soy wax will produce a stronger, more consistent smell that will last the full burn time of the candle. Although Fragrance tends to be more subtle in a soy candle, it still holds scent well and produces less soot than other wax types, but you must remember to trim your wicks!!! Soy wax is soft hence the blend is mixture of vegetable oils like or other waxes.
To be honest, as with everything in life.... all three waxes have pros and cons!! We could a very long discussion about thisππ. Itβs just nice to be able to offer alternative to old-fashioned paraffin wax. We are simply offering you a choice of natural resources at a reasonable price!
As always, the decision is yours!
